This "space marble" digital art was created from an original image of "the setting sun and the thin blue airglow line at Earth's horizon were captured in this image photographed by an STS-121 crewmember aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery" in July 2006. A space marble created thanks to The Sombrero Galaxy in Infrared Light from the NASA/Hubble images. The Helix Nebula (NASA/Hubble) made into a space marble. "Cone Nebula (NGC 2264): Star-Forming Pillar of Gas and Dust" is one of Hubble's brilliant, colorful captures. The splashes of diamond light against the crimson backdrop is lovely. This digital art is inspired by a quote from the original press release when the Hubble program released the original image: "Resembling a nightmarish beast rearing its head from a crimson sea, this monstrous object is actually an innocuous pillar of gas and dust." This image was perfect inspiration for the "space marble" series. |
