I created a gryphon for my nephew Griffin using what I call the "fired-sky" pictures. Those images were taken one evening in October 2002 in Dillingham, Alaska when I saw one of the most amazing sunsets of my life. The griffin outline comes from the artwork of Dee Dreslough (you can find her logo at the bottom of this page). Make sure to check our her pages if you like what you see. She has all kinds of great artwork, and is also a fantasy author.
